Snow Goose Hunt

Snow Goose Hunt
Hunt the heart of the snow goose migration with Up North Outdoors, Inc. We offer a snow goose hunt in the states of Missouri and Arkansas during the prime part of the spring snow goose migration. These states contain high numbers of staging and large numbers of migrating flocks of snow geese. With such a large population to regulate, biologists asked Congress to implement a Conservation Order. It was passed in 1999.

Our snow goose decoy spreads consist of 2000 Deadly® Decoy windsocks. Deadly® Decoys, Inc. is second company we own. It started from a desire to eliminate the limp windsocks on low and no wind conditions with a support. This support design was so unique we were able to get it patented. These decoys have the look, shape, and effectiveness of even the best full body decoy spreads. Never being satisfied with good enough, we are always upgrading, altering, or designing equipment so are continuously improving. Within the decoy spread we use lay down blinds; the highest quality electronic callers, and many refined tactics developed from our years of snow goose hunting experience. Our experience and attention to detail gives those that snow goose hunt with us an edge.

Arkansas is our first stop during the spring snow goose season. Interestingly, although there is more of a demand to hunt Missouri, on many years our Arkansas snow goose hunts have higher averages and low hunting pressure. It is consistently a favored hunting spot for the Up North Outdoors team.

Missouri is considered the go-to state by many spring snow goose hunters. Its reputation is well deserved and although several areas in the state offers good hunting opportunities, the northwest region is one of the best. Most of the snow goose hunts we do take place in this area.

Our main strategy is to snow goose hunt during peak migration moving from region to region with the flocks of snow geese. The volume of birds has to be seen to be understood. There are millions of birds migrating through these hunting areas in a short two to four week time frame. Setting our big snow goose decoy spreads in proven fields is highly effective, which is demonstrated by the over 40,000 snow geese harvested and the numerous repeat clients.

We take every care to provide successful snow goose hunts, but weather can delay or postpone our efforts. If inclement weather prevents guiding service as scheduled, we will either inform you of an alternate location or the snow goose hunt will be postponed. Postponed goose hunts are not subject to a refund, but will remain as a credit to be rescheduled. We do our best to accommodate hunters that need rescheduling.

Spring snow goose hunting does get a lot of warranted praise. Our videos and pictures are a testament to the potential success you may experience on a hunt with us. These birds will be decoyed and fired upon most often in the 25-50 yard range. We are skilled at being able to do this for those that snow goose hunt with us.

Snow Goose Hunt Pricing:

In order for our hunters to make the most of their snow goose hunt we schedule them either Friday – Sunday (3 day snow goose hunt) or Monday – Thursday (4 day snow goose hunt ). The vast majority of our hunters book according to this regiment. It gives them the best opportunity at a successful hunt and it allows our snow goose guides the ability to work as many days as possible. This format is not going to work for everybody that goes on a snow goose hunt with us. If you are one of those parties that require a different format please call and we will make special arrangements.

The 3 and 4 day snow goose hunt packages are full day hunts that start at legal shooting time and last until sunset.  The exception to this is the last day which is a half day that lasts until noon. For an additional $25 the last day can be turned into a full day hunt.

Your party size dictates who will be in your field on your snow goose hunt. If you have a party size of 6 hunters you will be guaranteed your own field. If your group is less than 6 hunters you will be combined with other smaller groups until there is 6-8 hunters booked in that field.  If you want to have your own field but have less than 6 hunters you can pay a flat fee to make that possible. Contact us for that rate.

Dogs can be a very rewarding part of a snow goose hunt if that have well trained. Unruly dogs can make for long days and lost birds. We allow obedient dogs if you have your own field. The quality of a hunting dog is subjective so we don’t allow dogs when we have to combine parties in a field.

The below prices are per hunter. They do not include lodging, license, or tip. Lodging is in local motels and meals are on your own.

Youth hunters are welcome. We have a special flat rate of $150/day hunted for them. Youth are those 12 to 17 years old. They must be accompanied by an adult and have completed a hunter’s safety course. Those under 12 are allowed as non-hunters at no charge provided you have your own field and the number of hunters and non-hunters doesn’t exceed 8.

3-Day Snow Goose Hunt Package: $525/hunter (Friday-Sunday)

 4-Day Snow Goose Hunt Package: $650/hunter (Monday-Thursday)

Full Day Snow Goose Hunt Package:$200/hunter (based on availability)

A 50% deposit is due two weeks after being added to our schedule. Full payment is due January 15th if you didn’t take advantage of the full payment discount option. We accept credit cards (Visa/MC/Discover), personal checks, or money orders. All payments are not refundable. If a member of your party can’t make the snow goose hunt it is acceptable to find a replacement for them. If a replacement can’t be found the deposit is forfeited.
